Troofrnd

Privacy policy for the Troofrnd browser extension

The extension reads the numbers LinkedIn has already shown you on your own post analytics page, and sends them to your Troofrnd account. That is the whole feature.

Last updated 20 August 2026.

What it collects

On linkedin.com/analytics — a page only the author of a post can open — it reads the figures already rendered on screen and sends these counts, together with the identifier of the post they belong to and the time it read them:

  • impressions
  • members reached
  • reactions
  • comments
  • reshares
  • link clicks

Nothing else on the page is sent. Not the post text, not names, not comments, not who engaged with it.

What it cannot do

These are not undertakings; they are the limits of the permissions the extension asks for, which you can read in its listing before installing and which Chrome enforces.

  • It has access to linkedin.com/analytics only. It cannot read your feed, anyone’s profile, your messages, your connections or your search results.
  • It cannot act as you. It does not post, comment, react, connect, follow or message.
  • It does not run in the background or open pages. It reads a page only while you are looking at it.
  • It reads no site other than LinkedIn, and no other part of LinkedIn.

Where it goes, and who sees it

Numbers are sent over HTTPS to Troofrnd and stored against your account, so they can be shown to you on your analytics screen. A report is accepted only for a post published through Troofrnd by the account the extension is paired with; a report about any other post is rejected.

We do not sell this data, share it with data brokers, use it for advertising, or use it to build any profile of anyone other than you. It is not transferred to third parties except the infrastructure providers that run Troofrnd — hosting and the database — which process it on our instructions.

Pairing, and what a leaked secret would cost

The extension holds no Troofrnd login. You generate a pairing code in Troofrnd settings and type it into the extension; it expires in ten minutes and works once. In exchange the extension stores one credential locally, in Chrome’s extension storage.

That credential can do exactly one thing: report metrics for your own published posts. It cannot read your Troofrnd account, your drafts or your content, and it cannot post anything. That is the entire blast radius if it leaks, and it is small by design.

Keeping it, and getting rid of it

Metrics are kept for as long as your account exists, because their point is to show how a post performed over time. Delete your Troofrnd account and they go with it.

To disconnect an install, revoke it in Troofrnd under Settings; it stops being accepted immediately. Uninstalling the extension removes the stored credential from your browser.

This covers the extension only

The policy above is about the browser extension and nothing else, which is why it is short enough to read in full. Everything Troofrnd collects through the product itself — your account, your drafts, your LinkedIn connection, your audience data — is covered separately by the Troofrnd Privacy Policy, alongside the rest of our legal documents.
